Little Storage Drawers

I might have mentioned once or twice a few dozen times that I have a weakness for little storage drawers and boxes.  In fact, I have more little storage containers than I have trinkets to store, but I still have a hard time passing them up.

Aren't these the cutest little compartments?  Each one is only 2 5/8" x 1 1/2".

Even though they needed some TLC, how could I walk away from them?  The entire box isn't much larger than a shoe box.

Unfortunately the missing pulls left holes in most of the drawers.

The solution was to turn the drawers around and start with a fresh slate.  Two of the drawers with their original rusty pulls were in decent shape and just needed the ugly crayon marks removed.  What was someone thinking?  Remnants of the old label on top rubbed right off after I moistened it.

The tiny new handles were made with twisted wire left over from another project.  I punched two holes in each drawer, then shaped and bent the wire using jewelry pliers.

I sure hope they hold up to all the use they're going to get.

This makes me think these drawers were originally used to store pharmaceutical labels.

Now they're perfect for holding some of my jewelry making supplies.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

8 compartments per drawer X 10 drawers = 80 compartments waiting to be filled with
 tiny treasures.

Brilliant idea to turn the drawers around! I would love to spend some time pawing through the drawers to check out all of your tiny treasures. It's like a candy store filled with vintage trinkets!

I love that your brain thinks to turn the damaged drawers around.

How great to see all your small pieces together and to know what you have.

Good idea turning the drawers around - don't know that I would have thought to do that. I am another one that has a weakness for boxes/containers like that.

Perfection! Is this the box you were talking about that would have been perfect for my new-found stickers? I did find a mother lode but not 80 little drawers worth! You are going to have so much fun filling that up and looks like you have a good start already. Enjoy!

I'm the same way. I scored some individual vintage black boxes with brass label plates/pulls on the front from Goodwill a while back. Very similar to yours, with about 8 compartments per box. I only bought 4 of them and now I wished I had bought more (yes, there were more!) Looking into yours is like looking into a reflection of my own -- lots of the same jewelry supplies (except for those watch faces, wish I had me some of those!) Happy Easter, friend! xoKathleen

Brilliant! When I first saw the box, I tried to think how you would fix it. Your solution is most clever! BTW, I got my metal stamp kit. :) Now I have to see what I can accomplish. Wish me luck.
