A fluted cake mold holds my supply of vintage wooden thread spools. It was getting a little crowed in there, so I grabbed a few naked spools and started decorating them.
I love you still

I cut out the words from a few pages of sheet music and applied them with Mod Podge. This was the first time I tried glitter Mod Podge, and I like the way it adds a bit of sparkle to the necklace.

Those are adorable - they should sell fast!
ReplyDeleteI stayed in and attempted to do a bit of decorating - and I do mean a bit. Should have worked on some gifts. :/
Enjoy your evening.
Очень красивые вещи!
ReplyDeleteThey turned out great!! I love them.
ReplyDeleteLove your spool necklaces! The mod podge glitter is really pretty! I did not shop today at all. It was a nice day so the Mr and I took a ride in the car with the top down! FUN!
ReplyDeletehugs,Linda
Such a cool revamp of vintage spools x
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable, Betsy! I have a bunch of old wooden thread spools too, but just haven't been motivated to do anything with them yet - might have to go get mine out and tinker with them!
ReplyDeleteI did go out today, but well after all the good sales had passed. I'm just not that driven to get up early!
Love the spool necklaces. I must check out the glitter mod podge. It looks great on the spools.
ReplyDeleteWe asked our friends to join us on a day trip to a remote town called Crown King in the mountains outside Phoenix. 27 miles on non-paved winding roads but it was worth the drive. We discovered a quaint little village where we had lunchaway from all the hustle and bustle of Black Friday.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFab! I did this with white Christmas music sheet for my trees. Nope not shopping today but did pull the tree and decorations out of the closet.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great turkey day!

ReplyDeleteHey Betsy, these are darling. I love using vintage sheet music in my jewelry designs. No Black Friday for me. E.V.E.R. I'm on the road with chickadee number 1 at a Mid-America Irish Dance Competition. Wish us luck! (And good luck to you on your upcoming sale. And you're all ready? I'm impressed!:0)
ReplyDeleteLove your spool necklaces....so pretty! I have one that has a wire bird's nest hanging down from the spool.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great show.

There are absolutely adorable! I'm sure they'll sell fast. Ya, we snuck out for Black Friday but waited till dinnertime to do so. Still a mad house. Good luck on your show. Lisa

Great idea!! Funny thing...a lady came up to me at church last week and said "What would you do with a lifetime of saved thread spools?" Think I need to tell her about this :) Thanks Betsy!!

Black Friday, my in-laws and I always go antiquing, this year in downtown Gilbert, AZ. How I wish I acquired a droplet of your DIY and repurposing talent Betsy. I would have been happier haha I never imagined that these spools would turn to a great accessory.

Oh gosh those are cute! I was thinking of you as I cleaned out all my old jewelry the other day and how you can think up something to do with just about anything.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do Black Friday shopping, nor did I go out shopping Saturday or today. I think I'm going to give the online shopping thing a whirl just for fun. I haven't even started shopping and don't have a clue what to get anyone. :( Guess I better get working on that!

ReplyDeleteThose are just gorgeous! LoVe!
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't venture out. There's nothing that I want that badly to brave all the craziness on that day!

I see a wooden spool and think "what a neat wooden spool." You see a wooden spool and think "this will make a cool necklace." Sigh!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, those are adorable! I did not even know glitter mod podge exhisted...I have got to try it!!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Betsey these are so adorable! I do like the glitter and might have to try that glitter mod podge on something. do you ever have to unwind thread from the spools to make these and if so, do you do anything with the thread?

ReplyDeleteI missed this post and these are so pretty. I have a pile and I'm not talented enough for jewelry but might just try my hand at a few as ornaments. Of couse, that implies I am going to stop procrastinating and get the tree out!

These are the most adorable things I have ever seen! Is it the jump ring that keeps the eye pin from coming through the hole of the spool at the bottom?
ReplyDeleteNever mind! A response isn't necessary! I realize you've used bead caps to keep the eye pin from slipping through. I am inspired! THANK YOU!
