Rustic Heart Love

I couldn't let Valentine's Day come and go without completing at least one heart related project.  My lone heart project needed to be made with junk I already had stashed out in my garage, and it needed to be something I could easily complete in 1-2 hours.

After digging through a few cabinets I found the perfect ingredients to complete this project.

I started with a beat up 8" x 8" x 2" block of wood and three strips of decorative vintage brass lamp banding.  I have no memory of where this junk came from, but it was time to do something with it.  I made a heart shaped pattern, traced the pattern on the pieces of lamp banding with a Sharpie, then cut out the pieces with tin snips.

The wood was dark and dirty looking, so I painted the front antique white before nailing down the banding.  Of course every rustic heart needs a rustic key and rhinestone.

I wrapped a piece of vintage ribbon around the skeleton key, then tied it around the miscellaneous metal thing I attached to the top.

There you have it.  Simple and rustic.  Just the way I like it!

    Betsy-
Simple and easy project and a perfect idea that I could make with tin ceiling tiles. It is so charming and, even better, I have all the parts! Thank you for the continued inspiration.
